Varun Dhawan is one GenX actor everyone loves. Time and again, he has proved that he is the most bankable actor in the current lot. He has charm, acting chops, superb dancing skills and a very amiable personality. Many see the future Salman Khan and Govinda in him. Well, we would, however, like him the most as Varun Dhawan only and his latest confession has only made us a bit prouder of him. The Badrinath Ki Dulhania actor has revealed to Mumbai Mirror that he will soon plunge into direction and the story will be his.
Yes, that happened. talking to the daily, Varun talked about the time he had shot short films but now he doesn’t think that format will work for him. “I was often shooting these films on my cell phone but I don’t want to go back to doing that because I’m a 70-mm actor now and I don’t know how a short film from me will be received. Instead, I’d want to focus on a full-length feature which will work commercially and enable me to do many more films,” said the actor. But when he narrated two screenplays to his brother Rohit and father David Dhawan, they shot these down. “I have two directors at home and take their honest opinions really seriously. Maybe these screenplays did not measure up. But I also feel that the story lines were not to their taste and style of filmmaking,” reveals the actor. But he is unfazed and adds, “Now I am working towards writing something far darker, the kind of film I’ve always wanted to do and I want to produce it too, maybe act in it as well.”
It’s so refreshing to see Varun trying different things at such a young age. At a time when his acting career is at a peak, he is thinking of other avenues as well which is remarkable. With so many experienced mentors around him, we are pretty sure his this new resolve won’t go waste.
